Gadgets
I use a Canon 5D DSLR camera. Like this one from amazon. It sells Canon Digital SLR Camera EOS 5D Mark II now. Even better image quality and beat the price I have seen elsewhere.
I find memory cards are generally cheaper at Amazon than elsewhere. SanDisk Sandisk Extreme III 8GB for less than £32. (It is sufficient to shoot raw+jpg on 5D at continuous shooting mode.)
SanDisk 4GB ULTRA II is okay at shooting, just a bit slow at downloading to PC.)
I recently attended a photography course. My tutor, a well-known wedding photographer, actually prefers to carry 8X2GB cards instead of a 16GB or 2GB one. It is for resilience. So if one card failed, it won’t cause bigger than 2GB worth of damages. He has got a slick storage box to keep the cards so reduce messy time on reload memory cards every 150 frames. He used SanDisk Extreme III CompactFlash 2GB Memory Card
I also use mass storage to backup photos. Basically it is triple backup. 2 DVD copies and a hard drive copy. I have got a Toshiba 1TB USB 3.5″ External Desktop Hard Drive, it is the cheapest one around, but the quality is not good enough. Mine got 116kb bad sectors right before first use.
I got a Western Digital My Book Essential Edition 1TB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive now. I hope it will work better based on the large number of postive reviews and feedback.
